TDC? What's all that about then?

We get asked, quite often, what does TDC stand for - so here's a quick explanation.
The short answer is: Timber Design & Construction.
The slightly longer answer is that when we changed the business name from "Almond & Jenkinson" (back in 1985) we needed a name that reflected our focus on designing and building all things from timber - and also our work in the more typical areas of construction (brick work, block work, etc..). Timber Design and Construction (TDC) seemed to fit the bill.

Over the years, Timber Design and Construction has built houses, home extensions, garages, conservatories, and worked on all types of commercial and residential buildings. These days, however, we specialise more on the "timber design" side of the business - that's designing and installing anything made from wood. Typically, this includes designing and fitting bedroom furniture, fitting bespoke kitchens, designing traditional bookcases, and making and fitting internal and external doors and window frames (including sash windows). We'll even match existing, traditional architraves and skirting boards then manufacture them in our own workshop and fit them. All so that our discerning customers achieve the quality of finish they deserve.

Our experience and expertise in managing building projects from design through to completion is still put to good use these days when we work with other tradespeople and, of course, our customers. Our understanding of the "end to end" process means we can often advise our customers on the right steps to take at each stage of their own project.
So why the change to "TDC Joinery"? Well, when we launched our website in 2020 it was inevitable that the TDC web address was already taken (it turns out that there were several businesses in the UK that chose the same "Timber Design & Construction" trading name as us - and they'd been a little quicker to get online!) and so we now use "TDC Joinery" as a web address for our customers to learn more about our business, the sort of work we specialise in these days, and how we can help them.
